Can anyone get permanent jewelry?
Essentially, yes. Some things that may prevent you from getting welded jewelry are:
Metal allergies, pacemaker, career (medical, food service, construction, etc), medical reasons, upcoming surgeries, nursing school exams & your age (we don’t recommend permanent under the age of 12).
For MRI’s or surgery, talk to your provider. Our chains are free of magnetic metal. If they give you the okay, you’ll sign a waiver and they’ll tape your jewelry.
-
Can my jewelry be worn in water?
Yes. We source quality metals with everyday wear in mind. You can wear your jewelry in the shower, pool & salt water. We recommend washing & drying your jewelry after wearing in the pool or ocean.
Hard water and hot tubs may interact with the metal & temporarily change its color. Your jewelry can easily be cleaned with a baking soda solution.
-
What if I need/want to remove it?
Your jewelry can easily be removed at home by cutting the jump ring (small circle of metal that we weld to make your piece ‘permanent’) with nail clippers.
Not comfortable doing it yourself? We offer complimentary removal. Save your chain to have it welded on at a later time or make it a removable piece by adding a clasp.
-
What if my chain breaks?
If your jewelry breaks at the jump ring, we offer complimentary re-welds to the original chain. If the chain breaks & it’s a manufacturing concern, we make it right! If the chain breaks from wear & tear, the next step is to purchase new chain.
-
Why would my chain break... I thought it was 'permanent'?
The term 'permanent’ refers to the chain not having a clasp for daily removal. In all honesty it’s a catchy term however ‘semi-permanent’ or ‘welded’ would have been a better option.
The reason your chain may break is for safety reasons! In the case something pulls on your chain with enough force, you want it to break to keep your skin and limbs free from a cut or worse.
-
Can the welding spark burn me?
Your safety is important to us. The welding process is fast & the metal cools quickly. However, we don’t take any risks by placing a piece of faux leather over your skin & under the chain before welding.
-
Can I look at the welding spark?
Your safety is important to us. The welding spark emits some UV light. To protect your eyes we recommend looking away, wearing our auto-shutter shades or watching through your phone camera. Most guests choose the last option.
-
Is there an age limit?
Yes and no. While people of any age can essentially get a clasp-less piece of jewelry, Adorn doesn’t recommend it for ages 12 and under.
